Antique Oak Settle

It’s been almost a year since I updated my blog…where did the time go! Apologies for being so slow in updating…
It’s been a really busy year and I’ve done lots of interesting jobs, but probably the biggest project was this oak Settle. My customer had bought it with the intention of restoring it herself. She had taken it apart but soon realised it was much worse than it first appeared having suffered from a lot of woodworm damage, so she contacted me to see if I could help.
It needed quite a few replacement parts making and some new joints too as the old ones had been badly eaten, the end of one arm was also missing. The photo’s probably tell the story a little better….

The finished Settle, new parts blended in to match and the whole piece cleaned and waxed up.
